Blasted Vase

A porcelain vase which documents the life of a tree, handmade in Germany.

The tree was raised and sheltered for 21 years in the hessian Spessart forest which is documented through the annual rings hidden underneath the vase. Every single layer at the lateral surface refers to one year, each knot to a branch which grew on this spot.

In first place, the tree was cut down and divided into chunks. Afterwards a part of the trunk was shaped and processed with a special surface technology to be used later to create a molding for the porcelain.

Height: 20 cm, ∅ 12cm
